About Binaural Beats
Binaural beats are an auditory phenomenon that occurs when two slightly different frequencies are played in each ear. The brain perceives a third "phantom" frequency, known as the binaural beat, which is the difference between the two tones. This auditory illusion has been scientifically linked to brainwave entrainment, a process where the brain synchronises its electrical activity to match the frequency of the beats.
Physiology
Binaural beats work by engaging the brain's auditory processing centres. This synchronisation can influence physiological and emotional states by altering brainwave activity, offering benefits such as reduced stress, enhanced focus, and deeper meditation.
Historical Context of Sound Healing
- Indigenous People of Northern Australia: The first ancient people known to use sound as a healing power are the indigenous people of
Northern Australia. The ancient culture created a kind of sound healing expressed through the
didgeridoo, or its ancient name, the yidaki. link1
- Ancient Egyptians: “Every chamber within the pyramid has a specific harmonic replicating the harmonics of the
cavities of the human body. Sound healing techniques were then used to restore the patient’s
body to the correct harmonics.”. link2
- Pythagoras: Pythagoras used various intervals of harmonic ratios as a medicine for dis-eases of the body, the
emotions, & the Soul. “He aligned Souls to their divine nature” and through music he performed
what he called, “Soul Adjustments”. link3
- Tibetan Singing Bowls: Singing bowls are sometimes used in alternative medicine, their modern popularity for that
purpose perhaps deriving from the modal vibration studies known as Cymatics.

- Christiaan Huygens: Huygens observed coupled oscillations: two of his pendulum clocks mounted next to each other
on the same support often became synchronized, swinging in opposite directions. He reported
the results by letter to the Royal Society, and it is referred to as "an odd kind of sympathy" in the
Society's minutes. This concept is now known as entrainment.

- Nikola Tesla: Tesla suggested that Twain try out a new invention he’d been working on, a mechanical oscillator
that sent vibrations through the body at various frequencies. Twain agreed and stepped onto
Tesla’s machine. At the end of the process, Twain suddenly leaped up and rushed to the toilet with
terrible diarrhea.
Despite this, Twain would continue to use the machine daily for almost two months, at the end of
which he had, in the words of Tesla, “regained his old vigor and ability to enjoy life to the fullest
extent.” This was precisely what Tesla had expected, the same results Tesla and his assistants had
achieved during their experimentation with the invention. As Tesla described in his records: “I
stepped on the platform and the vibrations imparted to it by the machine were transmitted to my body. The
sensation experienced was as strange as agreeable, and I asked my assistants to try. They did so and were
mystified and pleased like myself. But a few minutes later some of us, who had stayed longer on the
platform, felt an unspeakable and pressing necessity which had to be promptly satisfied, and then the
stupendous truth dawned upon me”.

Modern Applications
-
Bruce Tainio: Researcher and developer of Tainio Technology, found that a healthy body resonates at a
frequency of 62-70 MHz, and when your frequency drops to 58 MHz, that is when the disease
starts.

-
Dr. Royal Rife: Developed a frequency generator in the late 1920s. Rife’s frequency generator was able to
destroy the pathogens by vibrating them until they disintegrated.

-
Dr. Hulda Clark: In her book, “The Cure for All Diseases”, she states that every disease has a frequency and that a
higher frequency kills a lower frequency.
link17
-
Dr. Robert O. Becker: In his book, “The Body Electric”, he states that the human body has an electrical frequency and
that much about a person’s health can be determined by it.

-
Helene Grimal: Biologist Helene Grimal partnered with composer Fabien Maman to study the relationship of
sound waves to living cells. Maman was also an acupuncturist and had previously discovered that
by using tuning forks and colored light on acupuncture points he could achieve equal and even
greater results than he could with needles.

-
Harvey Kellogg: In 1895, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg implemented vibration therapy in his health practice. Using a
vibrating chair he developed himself, he claimed it could help improve circulation and alleviate
constipation.

The Role of Frequencies in Modern Wellness
Binaural beats, as part of this lineage of sound healing, offer a non-invasive and scientifically supported method to harmonise the mind and body. Whether you're seeking relaxation through delta waves or a boost in focus via beta waves, binaural beats are a versatile tool to enhance mental and emotional states.
By understanding the ancient and modern principles of sound therapy, we can appreciate how binaural beats are part of a larger, universal tradition that connects science and spirituality.
